At 6768m, Huascaran is Peru’s highest mountain, and the fourth highest peak in the whole of the American continent. Its presence dominates the chain of dramatic ice peaks known as the Cordillera Blanca, which offers some of the most stunning climbing and scenery found anywhere else in the world. for climbing Huascaran you should be in good physical condition and good acclimatization

It is recommended that you acclimatize minimum four days in others peaks it can be in ishinca , pisco tocllaraju or alpamayo.

Day 01: Lima – Huaraz
Transfer to the bus terminal for the 8 to 9 hour bus journey to Huaraz, set in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: Acclimatizing day
Acclimatization day

Day 03: Huaraz – Musho – Basecamp 4,300m
After breakfast, leave for Huaraz, heading north to the town of Musho, approximately two hours from Huaraz. In musho our donkey driver will be waiting for us, from musho start the hike for 4 – 5 hours to Huascaran base camp at 4300m.

Day 04: Base Camp – Moraine Camp 4, 850m – High Camp 5,400m ( glacier )
we will start hiking up to moraine camp the first part is rock almost 300m. arriving to moraine camp and then glacier we have to put our climbing equipment, two hours more to high camp

Day 05: High Camp I – High Camp II at 5,900m.
Climb for about three hours until La Garganta (The Throat), a broad saddle between the north and south summits. As you climb through the increasingly broken glacier, you will encounter short sections of technical climbing including an ice ascent of up to 60 degrees inclination. Camp II is at 6000m.

Day 06: High Camp II – Huascaran summit 6,768m – Camp II
Summit day , we will start at 1:00 am. arriving to the summit 6,768m aprox. 9:00 am. from the Huascaran top we will enjoy the white mountain range ( cordillera blanca )after the take pictures for few minutes go down to high camp .aprox

Day 07: High Camp – Base Camp
Early in the morning we will go down to moraine camp and then to base camp arriving aprox. 2:00pm.

Day 08 : Base Camp – Musho – Huaraz
Descend for about 3 hours to musho where our private transport will be waiting for us to transfer to Huaraz ( celebration dinner )

Day 09: optional extra day

Day 10: Huaraz – Lima
In the morning transfer to the bus terminal form the bus trip back to Lima and transfer to the airport for your connecting flight home.

Peru is known for having very stable periods of weather during the Andean Winter (May – Aug). The remainder of the season is dominated by the rainy season.

While climbing and trekking in Cordillera Blanca you will encounter a wide range of temperatures; from freezing nights, to snowy and windy conditions, to bright sunshine intensified by the high altitude. In one day you may experience temperatures below zero, then daytime highs of 50-70ºF range with intense solar radiation. You will need everything from shorts and a t-shirt for your time in the town of Huaraz to being fully clothed in down expedition jackets on summit day. This wide fluctuation in temperatures makes it important to bring everything on the equipment list.
