The Huayhuash Alpine Circuit is located in the spectacular of the heart of the Cordillera Huayhuash, the treks route is not the traditional, standard either popular Huayhuash Circuit. The Alpine Circuit is more demanding, technical exposed terrain there is not pathway to follow. Our camp will be within view of blue crystal green turquoise lakes.
During this trek we will see close up the hidden mountains which lie at the feet of the huge, sheer massifs which characterizes the Cordillera Huayhuash Mountains as Rondoy, Ninashanca, Jurao, Trapecio, Siula Grande famous by the film “Touching The Void” and the majestic Yerupaja at 6640m. The second highest peak in the Peruvian Andes.
This is High Alpine Huayhuash trek so requires of two or three days of acclimatization before the hike

Day 1.- Huaraz – Chiquian – Llamac – Cuarttelhuain
After breakfast in a Hotel, our guide will pick up you then drive to the village of Chiquian, Llamac and finally Cuartelhuain, our first camp at 4,100m. Place where our donkey driver will be waiting for us and ready for next day.
Approx. 5 Hours
Day 2.- Cuartelhuain – Cacanan Pass – Mitucocha
In the morning we climb up to our first pass Punta Cacanan (4700m) then descend to our camp at the beautiful lake Laguna Mitucocha (4150m). From our camp we have close views of the huge peaks Rondoy, Jirishanca, Ninashanca.
Approx. 6 Hours
Day 3.- Mitucocha – Jirishanca Chico Pass – Carhuacocha
We will climb to the next pass, the Jirishanca Chico (4750m) and have views of Jirishanca Chico Mount, from a nearby hill. then we will stop at the azulcocha lake. We then descend to camp at 4200 m. above Laguna Carhuacocha and beneath the impressive peaks of Yerupaja Grande, Yerupaja Chico and Jirishanca.
Approx. 7 – 8 Hours
Day 4.- Carhuacocha – Siula Pass 4830m.– Huayhuash
A long day, with a choice of routes via Punta Siula (4800m) before the pass we will see the three lakes of different colours as: Laguna Siula, Laguna Quesillococha and Laguna Jancacocha the mountains Yerupaja, Yerupaja Chico Siula Grande.
Aprox. 8 – 9 Hours
Day 5.- Huayhuash – Trapecio Pass 5000m. – Elefante Camp
This morning after our breakfast, we will climb up to “Trapesio Pass” where we have beautiful views of Trapecio and Buscanturpa mountain then continue to descending to elephant camp.
Approx. 6 – 7 Hours
Day 6.- Elefante – Laguna Jurao – Base Camp of Touching The Void
This morning the donkey drivers with their donkeys will continue by the normal huayhuash route. We will continue by alpine circuit so we have to carry our personal gears. Climb up to santa rosa pass at 5010m. then go down to “Jurao lake” and finally to the Touching the Void Base Camp
Approx. 6 – 7 Hours
Day 7.- Laguna Jurao – Gran Vista Pass – Laguna Caramarca
This morning after our breakfast we will pick you up our tents then ascend to gran vista pass at (5100m.) From where we will see the Sarapococha lake and the mountains as Sarapo, Siula Grande, Yerupaja. then continue our journey and descend to the valley of Segya to camp next to the Caramarca lagoon.
Approx. 6 – 7 Hours
Day 8.- Laguna Caramarca – Rasac Pass 5150m. – Jahuacocha Lake
After our breakfast we continue to climb up towards Rasac Pass at 5150m. the path ascend by moraine, rocky and in the glacier we will use our harnes, grampon and the rope for glacier traverse then descend to Jahuacocha camp and meet with our donkey driver
Day 9.- Jahuacocha Rest day or Visit Sambunya Pass at 4800m.
Day 10.- Jahuacocha – Pampa Llamac – Llamac – Huaraz
Today we will cross the final pass of the route, Pampa Llamac pass (4300m) and then descend to the village of Llamac 3250m. Here we will say good bye to our trek crew and meet our vehicles for the 5 hour drive back to Huaraz – Hotel
