Overview
The Olleros Carhuascancha Chavin trek, the less known, unique and remote hiking trail in the conchucos valley. we can say unspoiled area within in the Cordillera Blanca.
Along the trek we will enjoy really fantastic gorge views of the next mountains: Huantsan 6370m. Maparaju 5326m. Cayesh 5620m. Rurec 5700n. Shacsha, Uruashraju and many crystal blue mountain lakes with stunning waterfalls.
We will have opportunity to meet and see traditional Andean villages the farmers living in their traditional way at the feet of the mountains.
In our last day we will go to visit the archaeological complex of Chavin de Huantar
We can organize this tour on a ‘tailor-made’ private basis for groups of friends, families, clubs, charities or any other group. Depending on your trek experience, with the assistance of local guides.
Carhuascancha trekking requires of one or two days of acclimatization before the trek
We recommend Acclimatization hike day:
• Willcacocha Lake 3600m.
• Churup Lake at 4400m
• Llanganuco and 69 Lake at 4600m.
• Shallap Lake 4250m.

Itinerary
Day 1: Huaraz – Olleros – Sacracancha
Today in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel then transfer to the south of Callejon de Huaylas valley for one hour to Olleros Village 3350m. The starting point of the hike there the donkeys and donkey driver will be waiting for you then the equipment is loaded onto the donkeys. The hike starts easy going up to Sacracancha camp at 4050m.
Approx. 4 – 5 Hours
Day 2: Sacracancha – Yanashallash Pass 4700m – Shoncopampa
After breakfast, a hike up for three hours to Yanashallash pass at 4700m. From there you will have amazing views of the next mountains Uruashraju, Rurec then descend to camp. At 4050m
Approx. 6 - 7 Hours
Day 3: Shoncopampa – Hato – Castillapampa
In the morning, after our breakfast we will descend for approx. 2 hours to Hato Andean Village of small farmers, then continue to ascend for 3 hours more during this trek we will see spectacular mountains of Rurec, Huantsan and many small lakes. Our camp at 4300m.
Approx. 7 – 8 Hours
Day 4: Castillapampa – San Juan Pass 4800m. – Rima Rima
In the morning, a hike up for 3 hours to San Juan pass at 4800m. There you will have panoramic views of the mountains then descend by Rima Rima valley along this valley we will observe the endemic plant of Rima Rima. Continue to descend to Rima Rima camp at 3950m.
Approx. 6 – 7 hours
Day 5: Rima Rima – Mirador 4600m. – Carhuascancha
After our breakfast hike up for 3 hours to “Mirador” at 4600m. one of the most beautiful views of snow covered mountains, forest and beautiful lakes located in the feet of the Nevado Huantzan, San Juan and other mountains, then descend into the carhuascancha valley to carhuascancha camp at 3900m.
Approx. 6 – 7 Hours
Day 6: Carhuascancha – San Marcos – Chavin – Huaraz
After our last breakfast we will continue to descend along the carhuascancha valley until Yuracyacu village. Where our transport will be waiting for us, one hour drive to Chavin de Huantar there we will visit archaeological site, then continue to Cahuish tunnel arriving to Huaraz approx.. 4 – 5 pm.
