Overview


Santa Cruz trek and 69 lake trek is one of the most beautiful popular and challenging trekkings in the Cordillera Blanca - South America is one not to be missed!

The perfect combination of the trek, along the hike we will cross by three different gorges or valleys the Santa Cruz Valley, Huaripampa Valley and Llanganuco valley then we will see the spectacular mountain views and crystal glaciar lakes, two high passes Punta Union Pass at (4750m) Portachuelo Pass (4850m).

Highlights include views of majestic, towering Andes mountains such as Artesonraju 6020m.(the Paramount Pictures Mountain), Alpamayo 5947m. Huascaran North, Huascaran South 6768m. and Chopicalqui 6354m.

In the Huaripampa valley our encounter with civilization of indigenous quechua farmers living in their traditional way at the feet of the mountains.

NOTE:
Is possible to do in reverse but the classic version allows for an easier means of acclimatizing with the altitude.

From Cashapampa (start at 2900m.)

Itinerary


Day 1.- Huaraz – Cashapampa – Llamacorral
Today in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel then you will be transfered along the Callejon de Huaylas valley, passing by small towns as Marcara, Carhuaz, Yungay , Caraz then Cashapampa at 2900m. The starting point of the hike, there the donkeys and donkey driver will be waiting for you then the equipment is carried onto the donkeys.
The hike starts by a narrow valley, you will hike up for about 2 hours then we will start going up moderately almost a flat area to the first camp place Llamacorral at 3,700m. Approx. 4 – 5 Hours

Day 2.- Llamacorral – Visit Alpamayo Base Camp – Taullipampa
In the morning after breakfast, we will continue our hike by easy and flat area passing the ichiccocha and jatuncocha lake we arrive to Quishuar for lunch then you have the option to head up to Alpamayo South base camp to get an up-close view. Then return short hike and continue to next camp place Taullipampa at 4200m.
Approx. 6 – 7 Hours

Day 3.- Taullipampa – Punta Union Pass 4750m. – Paria
After a delicious breakfast hike up for three hours to Punta Union pass at 4700m. from there you will have amazing views of the next mountains Taulliraju, Pucajirca, Alpamayo, Paria Contrahiervas and the Santa Cruz valley then go down to Paria or Cachinapampa Camp Approx. 7 - 8 Hours

Day 4.- Paria – Vaqueria – Portachuelo Pass 4800m. – Yuraccorral After a wonderful breakfast in the morning we will start going down for about 1 hour and a half and 30 minutes for go up to Vaqueria where our private transfer will be waiting for us, then transport to Yuraccorral. Before reaching Llanganuco lake we will arrive to Portachuelo pass at 4,800m. From there we will have amazing views of Huascaran North, South, Chopicalqui ,Huandoy peaks, Pisco, Yanapaccha then we continue going down to Yuraccorral camp at 3800m.

Day 5.- Yuraccoral – 69 Lake 4600m. – Llanganuco – Huaraz In the morning after our Peruvian breakfast we will leave the camp around at 8.00am. and begin hiking up to Laguna 69 during the hike we have views of the famous mountains such as Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Yanapaccha. After the visit the wonderful 69 lake We will continue return on the same way to Yuraccorral where Our cook and the teams will be waiting for lunch finally packing everything then will take our private transport and head back to Huaraz for a celebratory dinner.
